Before I talk about “Heroes” in my life, let me introduce myself. My name is Binar, I’m 10 years old. I am the second child of 3 siblings, I have 2 brothers who are the oldest and the youngest.
The word Heroes in my daily life I have often heard, considering my little brother really likes characters such as Spiderman, Superman, or Batman, all of them are SuperHeroes. At first, I thought a Hero was a person who fought for our country’s freedoms against the invaders, but it turns out that everyone can be their own hero.
For me a Hero is someone who never gives up, always does positive things to move forward, and does good deeds for themselves and others. For me my hero is Myself, why? Because when I feel weak or sad, I have to be able to get up and keep going.
I remember when I participated in the Story Telling Competition, when I was in the 1st grade of elementary school, I had to memorise and tell stories with appropriate gestures and expressions. I tried my best but it turned out that I was not chosen as the winner. At that time
I was very sad and disappointed, even though my parents comforted me I still feel sad. But then I thought sadness wouldn’t help, and was just a waste of my time. Since then whenever I feel sad or hopeless, I always try to find the strength within myself to get back up and be happy.
So, only I can help encourage myself to keep going. That way, I keep finding the strength to stay strong, and prevent myself from giving up to become better. Because if we are weak, how can we help others? We should be a hero for ourselves first, before we can start to help others. After the Pandemic it is very hard for everyone to start a new normal, let’s keep our spirits high and be a hero at least for ourselves. (fnk)
